I grew up in Northeast England. After emigrating to the American Midwest, I lived in Michigan, Wisconsin, and most recently Chicago, Illinois.

I attended Concordia University-Wisconsin, graduating summa cum laude with a double major B.A. in Liberal Arts, and Management & Communication. During my twenty years in radio advertising I worked for WMYX/WEMP, WEZW, and WFMR in Milwaukee, and for ABC/Disney at WLS-AM in Chicago.

My first published work was a 60-second radio commercial that aired in 1984. I’m now a columnist, short story writer, and novelist specialising in women’s issues, humour, and cinema.

I’m married to American author Jean-Michel Smith, and have a daughter, Emily. We currently live in London.
